Report and Pictures from the 200k Challenge
- The 200km Challenge is now on. The team left The Lizard at around 5.45am this morning, Friday 28th May 2010.
- They reached RNAS Culdrose just after 9.00am this morning where they were presented with a cheque for £200 from a cake sale held in aid of Ella's Memory.
- At noon the team were between Porkellis and Stithians, having visited the Maternity Unit at Helston Community Hospital.
- At 3pm the team were as fresh as a pair of 3 day old socks! Morale was still good and they were at Carnon Downs.
- 6pm sees the team leaving Truro after 12 1/4 hours on the road. The message is, "It hurts!" If you have not yet sponsored them please click on the Donate online link at the top of the page.
- 8.30pm Approaching Grampound Road. A few stops for injuries. We have tired legs.
- 1.15am Saturday 29th May; still walking the team have reached St Austell
- 2.30am Saturday 29th May; at last the walking is over. The team have reached Fowey Fire Station. Time for an hour or two of well deserved rest before getting on their bikes and starting the second 100km of the challenge.
- 8.30am Saturday 29th May; left Fowey to complete to 100km of cycling around Cornwall.
- 1.20pm Saturday 29th May; the 200km Challenge is complete as crowds welcome the brave boys to Lemon Quay. The team crossed the finish line on Lemon Quay with the support of a large cheering crowd, the West Briton and Follet Stock. There are now pictures in the slideshow above of the whole epic journey. After 100km walking and 100km cycling the team have gone to the pub to recover, hopefully we will have a report from the before too long. Well done everyone. On Friday 28th, at 6am, 6 Intrepid Friends and Family of Ella's Memory will be setting off from the Lizard Point, to walk 100km, visiting the 3 Maternity Units in Cornwall, and Finishing up in Fowey, within 24 hours. Upon finishing this challenge, walking will turn into Cycling, and the 6 will proceed to embark upon a further 100km loop of Cornwall, finishing on the Piazza, Lemon Quay, Truro, on the Saturday afternoon. We will be holding a collection on this day, with some special guests!!!
